Cousin from India refused visa - advice needed!

Post by gupster » Wed Sep 18, 2013 7:19 pm

I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice.

I'm British but my parents moved over to the UK from India before I was born and most of my family are still in India. I'm getting married next month and have invited my aunts, uncles and cousins over. We found out today that one cousin has had her visa refused and I'm wondering if it's worth her reapplying or giving up as a lost cause.

My cousin is in her early-thirties, single and lives with her parents. She is self-employed and runs her own shop but for some reason the shop is in her mother's name. The refusal letter says that she has not submitted any evidence of her business or the income she derives from it so they are no satisfied that she will leave the UK at the end of her visit. I haven't managed to talk to her about this but I imagine she will have provided all the documentation she has.

Does anyone have any idea if she would be successful if she reapplies with more information about her business or will they just find another way to refuse her? I appreciate it doesn't look good on paper but she has no intention of staying past 2 weeks and I just want her to be there for my wedding!

If she fixes the exact wording of the refusal through the provision of additional evidence - then providing everything else is in order, she should be approved.

Doesn't mean everything else is in order of course - but a previous refusal will mean that the next application might be looked at a little closer.
