Absent for more that 90 days in final 12M before Citizenship

Post by theghid » Tue Sep 24, 2013 2:24 pm

Hi

I am in the final 12 months before applying for citizenship after receiving my IRL after 5 years. I would like to know what is the maximum time allowed outside of the UK in the final 12 months. I know that 100 days is usually disregarded but due to interests in business I will have to be out out of the UK for a longer period of time. In the Guide for Citizenship application it is stated that 101-179 days may be disregarded if you have demonstrated a link with the UK by establishing your home, family and a large part of your estate here. I can demonstrate these requirements and would like to know how they judge the amount of days that can be disregarded in this range.

Please let me know if anyone has any personal experience in this area with their application.

Link to UKBA Regulation regarding discretion on absences from the UK during the residential qualifying period.

Thanks :)
