Naturalisation - what date

Posting on behalf of a work friend...

He Came to UK as student in 2005
Switched to tier 1 dependent in 2010
Got ilr in 2013
Going through divorce now

Will he be able to apply for naturalisation in 
2014 a year after ilr
2015 on basis of 10 years residence
2018 five years after divorce 

His wife is still on ILR.

Are you sure ? Not to offend you but just wanted to confirm since a solicitor told him that he will have to wait for a further 5 years since his wife is not a British citizen and he was on a dependent visa.

Did he pay the solicitor for that advice? He should get a refund.

He has ILR. There is no such thing as dependant ILR. The route he has been on to obtain ILR is not relevant for naturalisation.

Not sure if he paid or not but he did mention that he believes he has to spend 5 more years.

I did a quick google and saw a case of a thai women who had to complete 5 years, trying to get the link.

I am aware that there is no dependent ILR and that it frees you from immigration control but I thought that since ILR was got on SET M and the relationship does not exist since he needs 5 years more.
