VISA Conversion from WP to Dependant

Writing this email in reference to a query related to dependent Visa for me.
I am currently on work permit here in UK and my Visa valid till Mar 2014. My fiancé is in UK on work permit valid till May 2015(Will be applying for PR in March 2014)
We will get married in December 2013 and planning to travel back to UK in the same month. We have two options to travel back
1. Travel with the current WP and convert to dependent later before WP expiry.
Ø Say, if I would like to switch to dependent in Jan/Feb 2014, should I be travelling back to India for this or can this conversion happen by remaining in UK
Ø If so, how long this process would take in India / UK
2. Convert to dependent in India and travel to UK
Ø How long this would take in India.
