Few questions about Post Spouse visa..

Post by Omaricious » Sat Sep 28, 2013 11:09 am

hi folks

I just wanted to know what instructions to follow after a spouse visa been granted.

1 what to expect from the border agency officer in the airport

2 how to apply for a national insurance number

3 can I take the Life in the UK test alongside the english language test in my 1st year so i can get them off the way?

4 for the visa extension in 2,5 years they combine the earnings of both partners in order to assess the financial requirements right? not only the sponsor, so that both salaries combined should give a total of @ least £18,600

any further clarifications or advices would be much appreciated. thank you

Not much, a few questions perhaps.

2 how to apply for a national insurance number

See https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number tell them you need it for a job.

3 can I take the Life in the UK test alongside the english language test in my 1st year so i can get them off the way?

Yes you can take it when you want, but remeber in 5 years time things might be quite different.

4 for the visa extension in 2,5 years they combine the earnings of both partners in order to assess the financial requirements right? not only the sponsor, so that both salaries combined should give a total of @ least £18,600

Providing you are both working legally, yes.

any further clarifications or advices would be much appreciated. thank you

hi mates, happy new year to all the members

I would like to know if it is alright to apply for the visa extention after 2,5 years 3 or 4 months before its expiry date, i have heard that the home office takes too long to reply.

i would also like to know if they require another english test when applying for FLR /

Thank you

You can apply no earlier than 28 days before the 2nd Anniversary of the date you first entered on your spouse visa. If you apply in person at a PEO (for a premium fee) assuming all your documents are in order, the FLR(M)
visa should be granted on the same day.
If you've already taken the A1 English test, you won't need to re-take it for FLR(M).
