Hi Everyone,
I have read many pages today but I am not getting proper answer so I am going to post my question.

>I am planning to apply for ILR (5 years Tier 1 General) (Current leave expires on 1st May 2014)
>My wife's Visa expires on same date. She received her visa post July 2012 so she will need to spend 5 years in UK before she qualifies for ILR.

But the question is:

>What visa application would suit her ? PBS dependant or FLR (M)
. PBS application is very expensive as compared to FLR ?

We are planning to apply face-to-face on same day.

>Do we need to get separate appointments ?

if she applied visa before july 2012 she need to spend 2 years in UK.

please correct me if i'm wrong

The choice is either FLR(M) or PBS dep, yes a 5 year route to settlement post July 2012.

one more question.

for any reason like IT system down or checks can't be made etc...

will they hold my passport as well ????

I don't want to give them my passport to hold ???

any advise for that ???

I'm to much worried.

The reason including above and is we lived 2 places in 2 years.

Previous one was privately rented from desi landlord - no bills or teneancy aggrement.

current one I'm living with my relative - no bills and teneancy aggrement. however i have taken letter from her saying we live with them from XX to XX.

Yes they would hold all documents, what you can do is get a notary public or solicitor to take a certified copy of your passport and take the passport and the copy to the appointment and leave them with just the copy, that should suffice.

i will go to solicitor to certify dunno how much he will charge.
for attest they charge £5. is attest and certify is same thing ??

Hello ,

I have similar issue, my visa expires in jan 2014 and my partner came in UK MAY 2012 so she will not be completing 2 years by jan 2014 ? I have called UKBA and they told me to apply through PBS dependent and than settlement for my partner. but FLR(M) option is cheaper than PBS Dependant ?

my question is if she applies through FLR(M) , will she fall into new category of immigration and get ILR after 5 years?(post july 2012 rule) or will she be able to apply for settlment after she complete her 2 years (which will be in may 2014) ?
