Ukrainian wife applying for VAF 1B to stay with english husb

Post by SedUK » Mon Sep 30, 2013 10:26 pm

Hi,

I hope you all might be able to give me some advice as I am struggling to get any from the UK borders agency! I appreciate this will look longwinded but please read through as this is my first post and am not sure what to write!

I got married 3 weeks ago to my Ukrainian wife in Ukraine. We wanted to apply for an indefinite stay visa but, as far as I know, we cannot because of my financial situation (agency worker showing a zero hour contract) if for no other reason.

My plan is for her to apply from Ukraine online for a VAF1B for six months where she will come and stay with me at my parents address. I am sure I can prove I can sponsor her on my last 6 months bank statements and savings. Once here we hope she can apply to the local universities to see if her Ukrainian diplomas count here and if she needs to study to convert them we shall apply for a study visa for however long she needs. In this time my employment situation will be in a position come the end of her studies that we can apply for indefinite remain.

We had a general visitor visa accepted for her in January this year for 6 months so I am hoping this will help our application. Speaking to UK borders they said it sometimes works against when two applications are made in the same year. The original visa run out in June and she stayed in England with me for 5 weeks out of the 6 months if that makes any difference.

She has a property in Ukraine and a good job within the media which I assumed counted towards her being granted the original visa.

Please can anyone tell me if we are going about this the right way, if not why not and what would be a better course of action. If you need anymore information just ask!

Thanks for taking the time to read and I look forward to somebody giving me a better idea of what to do next!

Anthony
