Promotion > Change of SoC code Questions

Post by ontopdownunder » Wed Oct 02, 2013 10:00 am

Hi,

I have been sponsored since June 2011 and my work wants to promote me, it will require a change of SoC code, so as I understand it I will need to go through the RLMT again, unfortunately.

I have a couple questions though:

1 - The new SoC code: There is two codes the new role could arguably fit into, one of them requires NQF Level 6 and the other NQF Level 4. I do not have a degree from a University so I do not qualify for the Level 6 SoC code. I guess I'm worried that even though there is a valid argument that the role fits the level 4 code that it could be scrutinised as it could also fit the Level 6 code.... how worried should I be about this?

2 - I assume I will not have to fly home and apply from there again?

3 - Will it cost me anything, or just my employer?

As an aside, I find it so frustrating that I need a degree to get a legitimate promotion, my company wants to promote from within and if they can't promote me they will have to hire above me and my role potentially made redundant. Or, am I wrong, do I not need a degree for a Level 6 SOC role?

Thank you for your help in advance, and sorry if some of these questions are amateur.
