Student tuition fees.

Post by neda » Thu Oct 03, 2013 9:54 am

I need help regarding my tuition fees, my story is I am in the UK since 2010 and then I get married and I was in spouse visa for 2 years.
When I was in spouse visa I started my PhD and pay for as international student.
I get my ILR 3 weeks ago and I was in university to ask, now I got ILR and am here for 3 years should I pay as international student and home student, they told me that I must pay as international student but the thing is my family paid my fee last year and they are not able to pay it any more.
Is there any advice that where and how I can get help regard this issue.

Thank you.

You pay home fees if:

Category A - those who are 'settled' in the UK other than by reason of having acquired the right of permanent residence

In order to qualify for home fees under this category, you must meet all of the following criteria:

(a) you must be settled in the UK on the first day of the first academic year of the course

AND

(b) you must also be ordinarily resident in the UK and have been ordinarily resident in the UK and Islands for the full 3-year period before the first day of the first academic year of the course. (For example, if your course begins in October 2010, you must have been ordinarily resident in the UK and Islands from 1 September 2007 to 31 August 2010).

AND

(c) the main purpose for your residence in the UK and Islands must not have been to receive full-time education during any part of that 3-year period.

So if say you were on a student visa before the spouse leave then you would not meet the requirement until next year.
