Where do I stand

Post by SaintA » Sun Oct 06, 2013 10:22 am

Hi all
I went back to my country to get married recently and both of us are here in the uk. She will be studying PhD and I will be her dependant,
I want to know if we can apply with our current name as she has not yet changed her name. All our documents are still with our single status name.
I thought of doing marriage registry her in UK after wedding in Home country but they said if we have done a recognized wedding back home then they can't do any marriage registry for us.
Kindly let me know what is possible please
Special thanks in advance

You should be fine with the maiden names. Nothing in the rules prevent you from using them. All you have to do is make all paperwork in order. If the marriage you have done is recognized in your home country then there is no need to register your marriage in the UK.

Hope this helps.

You can apply without changing names. Also you don't need to register your wedding in uk. Use the wedding certificate from your home country. I did same way thank you
