German Work Permit Fun Round 3.....

Post by Wanderer » Thu Apr 05, 2007 6:20 pm

We are beginning to feel the German immigration system is actually the worst of the three we've experienced, the others being UK and Russian, and anyone who's been to Russia will know exactly what I mean....

GF is on uni placement from UK uni, she's Russian, eventually got the WP four and half months late. Good job we fought to get the papers together, the uni were no help, we applied two months in advance so it wasn't a total disaster. Just a disaster.

She has to do two six month placements. On sunday she arrived in Berlin from Hamburg to do her second period and a different company. Now things get a bit cloudy. Alles kien klar......

A temporary 'peice of paper' was issued to her to cover her for the period until she could hget the actual WP from auslanderbehorde. Fine, ok, that's what they did last time and the system worked. Next the folks auslanderbehorde issue the WP. Noone noticed the WP was issued in the name of the old company not the new one. So the new one won't let her work until this is rectified, understandably.

So, today she goes to auslanderbehorde and they tell her it will take five weeks to change it!! ARRRGGHH!!!!

And that was a 'probably five weeks, might be two months..' ARRRGGHHHH!!!

Can anyone make sense of this and advise us before I explode...
