Child Born in India - Documents required from HCI London

Post by jisnubasu » Wed Oct 09, 2013 10:52 am

My child was born in July this year in India.

I am a naturalised Bristish Citizen whereas my wife still holds her Indian Citizenship with Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK.

We have inquired about applying for a British passport which is possible but would take a long time (about 4 months) hence we are going to apply for Indian Passport for the child.

We have spoken to lawyers in India about the matter and they have asked us to get a "Letter of Nomination" from the Indian High Commission in London. It would be extremely helpful to know the following:

1) Documents required (child's, parents' etc) ?
2) Is any prior appointment required or can I just go to the High Commission and request it by explaining the situation ?
3) Time lines ?

Many Thanks in Advance.
