European Citizen Query

Post by jclawl » Wed Oct 09, 2013 2:27 pm

I have already applied (23 September) and am awaiting a response, but have had a thought and wondered if anyone knew the answer, I moved to the UK in 1986 (aged six) My mother who previously held a German Passport, married by British Subject (Irish, Non Biological) Father in 1983 and took British Citizenship shortly after however left me remaining on a German Passport, I guess that means that I don't qualify through my mum for Citizenship? And as my biological father is German I know there is no way of qualifying there. I have been in the UK Since then (or failing that in BFPO addresses up to 1991, and since then I have lived in the UK with very short (5 day) holidays once a year if that. I am married to a british citizen as well so there is hope on 2 fronts but wandered what the chances are based on my Family history ?

Also I have seen a case where a European citizen was rejected due to lack of medical insurance is this necessary as I've never had this but then again I've lived in the Uk and have been registered at a Doctors since we moved here

Medical insurance is only required if you don't work. If you have worked continuously for the past 5 years (or any 5 years in the past), you should be fine.

Phew as I've worked since 1996 with a gap of 3 days between jobs (well between working at one job full time, then started a new full time job, and still working at the original job but now only part time) very complicated
