Im on Tier 1 G, Wife on Tier 4, she want to become my depend

Dear Members,

I am on tier 1 General visa, just got 3 years extension, my wife is on tier 4 visa, we have one child and expecting another one soon, if she wants to become my dependant, does she will have to go back to country and apply from there or it is possible to switch to Tier 1 PBS Dependant?

Her visa is expiring within 3 weeks and i need to know what will be best course of action.

Your helpful reply may save me a lot of money.

Please reply with your expertise ASAP, i will appreciate your help.

Hi, unfortunately Tier 4 Students are unable to switch into becoming a dependent whilst in the UK.

Your wife will have to leave the UK and apply for Entry Clearance as a Tier 1 Dependent.

Switching to Tier 1 (General) dependant is now possible.

yes she need not leave the country to switch into Tier 1 General Dependant. She can apply with in UK. These changes are from 1 Oct 2013. So she is eligible.
