Just for a bit of lighthearted relief from all the horror stories, but on Corrie tonight, Joanne Jackson was arrested for being illegal, infact she turned out to be Liberian, which used to have a big Merchant Navy when I was at school.

Anyway, we are unsure of her age, except she came to UK at eight years old, during the Liberian Civil War (off to google it now...) 1989-1996. Let's take the median, 1993. So she's likely to have been here 14 years. One for the Corrie script writers to incorporate the 14 year concession into an episode?

Would be interesting to see how the matter is handled. Immigration is always a sticky subject...

It's looking bad....

I watched again and she was born in 1987, left Liberia at eight, 1996, the end of the Civil War.

So she's been here 11 years, what can she do?

The show is playing on the fact she is as British as they come, having hardly known any other life....
