Am I eligible for Naturalisation?

Post by nemo999 » Mon Oct 14, 2013 11:24 am

Hi All,

I entered UK on 9th Sep 2007 on Student visa (Student visas are non settlement, i.e. the time spent does NOT count towards residency) .

Received Tier1 General (02- Nov -2008)

Successful ILR on 10th Oct 2013 (yes, just few days ago!)

I know usually after ILR, most people wait for 1 full year and then apply for British citizenship. (maybe because they entered on T1 General and have only completed 5 yrs in UK at the time of ILR)

I have completed 6 year in UK at the time of ILR…does that mean I am eligible for citizenship as well?

I may be asking for too much but I have been living here for last 6 years….if that is the case, I will get my citizenship sorted as early as possible, or please feel free to tell me if I am being over ambitious.

Worst case, I will wait for 1 more year for citizenship process.

Just curious!

Nope, need to spend 12 months free of immigration control I am afraid! So you can apply next year in October.
