Can Tier 1 Dependant be a sponsor of General Visitor Visa?

Post by gprao2010 » Tue Oct 15, 2013 10:14 am

Hi,

I am on Tier 1 General and my wife is on Tier 1 Dependant visa. I would like to invite my mother-in-law to visit UK. Is it possible for my wife to be the sponsor of the General Visitor Visa or should it always be the main visa holder who can sponsor? I have a break in my employment within the last 6 months whereas my wife has been in continous employment over the last 6 months. So she has all the required financial documents like last 6 months payslips in order. Please advice.

Thanks,

I don't see any rules that may prevent her from sponsoring a general visitor.

You can put in a joint sponsorship, where you both could write a letter and both of you could provide payslips, bank statements etc.

Thanks Vinny & Vignezh for the quick response. I think I will provide a joint sponsorship letter as suggested to be on the safer side.
