Employment for Dependents of Entrepreneur Tier 1 Immigrant

Post by Shujaat.lahori » Sun Oct 20, 2013 6:41 pm

Hi I am applying under the above category and would like to know if my wife will be allowed to take employment in UK without the need for sponsorship from the employer. More importantly will she be considered for employment opportunities considering the Temp Leave to Remain visa status that could be withdrawn after 3 years if extension is not granted to me for some reason.

@ Shujaat.lahori, your wife will be able to do any work except as a dentist and doctor in training which is the usual restriction on most work related visa.

Also your wife doesn't need any sponsorship from any employer and you should focus on the first stage of the visa rather than worry about extension for now.

most pf ppl enter uk always have Entry Clearance or Limited leave to remain and get job without being asked whether they will get extension at the end of current leave expire unless they are applying for certain jobs where minimum duration of remaining leave required at the time of application.

so better focus on getting T1E raher than thinking abt dependent visa or extension.

Thanks Darvesh and Olasunkanmi for the insight!!

We are actually thinking about starting a business under my wife's name so that I can continue with my banking career in UK. The planned investment is to be a secondary source of income that will be run by my wife and a full-time partner. I hope this aspect does not become ground for refusal of ET1 since the dependent (i.e. me) under the application is a professional banker. Would appreciate your advice once more. Cheers

@ Shujaat.lahori, you as the dependant can do whatever job you so wish apart from the general restrictions which applies to all work permit related schemes. Home Office cannot refused your application just because you are a professional banker.

Read the immigration laws and policy guidance very well so you can know all the necessary documents required for your application.
