Research Project

one of my friend have a query.

He is an undergraduate student from Colombia and he has been invited to participate in a research project in a British University. His visit will last five months and he is not going to receive financial support from the university. Can any body confirm the visa category he has to apply for.

Can you advice please ?

depending on the detail of his proposed trip consider applying for a business visitor visa in the academic visitor category:

He should also contact the UK university for advice. All universities have staff that deal with immigration issues.
