ILR Dependent Visa from India - Accommodation evidence query

Post by nandug23 » Thu Oct 24, 2013 3:02 pm

Hello,

Thanks for looking into this.

I'm working for a single employer since the last 6 years in UK and have recently received my ILR. I'm getting married this December in India and planning to apply for my wife's dependent visa right after that through VFS, India (Bangalore). My query is regarding the evidence related to accommodation that needs to be submitted as part of the VAF4A application form.

I might be relocating once I come to the UK after my marriage and so, do not want to go for a rented property and end up signing the 6 month agreement. (I may relocate within 2-3 months of me arriving in the UK after marriage - in January). Therefore, my company has offered to provide me with a company owned accommodation (serviced apartments) for myself and my wife. I would like to know if this is an acceptable form of accommodation for me and my wife to the UKBA, when I mention this in the application form. If yes, can you please list down any documents that required to be submitted to support this? If not, please provide any alternatives (if any, other than taking a property for rent).

Note: My company would provide me with a letter confirming that they are offering me with an accommodation for myself and my wife post marriage.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Kind regards.
Nanda.

Sounds fine if it comes with a statement indicating you will continue to be in their employment. The general living conditions would need to be detailed in order to confirm its suitability.

Hello Lucapooka,

Thanks a lot for your response. My company would provide me with a letter that I would continue to be employed with them. Certainly makes me ease my nerves :)

On a different note, can you please advise if my salary conditions are suitable to be applied:

Current salary since the last 9 months - approx 3000 per month (excluding taxes), 2350 after tax. I would spend approx 1200 in this for my accommodation (including all the utility bills, etc). So I would be left with 1150 to support myself and my wife. I would like to know if I need to mention to the UKBA about any loan EMI payments I may be doing in the UK?

Thanks again,
Nanda.

Unlike the previous financial rules for settlement, the new financial regime does not consider how you spend your income. It is not concerned if your actual expenditure is more or less than your actual income. So, if you have an income of more than 18,600 per annum, and have had that for at least six months, that is all that is necessary.

Thanks for the information again. I was going through the financial requirements for the dependent visa and my understanding is as below:

Evidence that I have been earning atleast £18,600 per annum for the past 6 months from a single employer (Further restrictions apply if I have not been employed by a single employer in the last 6 months)

If I'm able to prove the above, can you please let me know if I have to satisfy any of the below:

1) Do I need to show any savings in my bank account and if so, what should be the minimum duration for which I need to show?

Or/And

2) Do I need to show any savings in my bank account of the country from where I'm applying (india in this case) and if so, what should be the minimum duration for which I need to show?

By going through the financial requirements stated by UKBA, I understand that both the points are not required if I'm able to demonstrate the minimum gross annual salary mentioned in the start of the mail. However, I would like to get an advise from the forum that my understanding in this regards is indeed correct.

Thanks again,
Nanda.
