Comprehensive sickness insurance for EEA student

Post by felix2005 » Fri Nov 01, 2013 11:57 am

UKBA website states that EEA student needs a comprehensive sickness insurance covering all risks for themselves and a sponsored accompanying family. However, there is no a single word regarding the situation, when a student is a mature student being depended on and sponsored in fact by their working spouse.

We have been UK residents and UK Ordinary Residents, I have been employed and paying NIC. So my family does have a free access to all NHS treatments. My husband was a student for 2 years working only during Summers. As per above did he still need to have a comprehensive sickness insurance? Please can anyone advise?

Under EU route only the activities carried out by EEA national are counted regardless of what their non-EEA national partners are doing? If you are an EEA national student then only you will need CSI in contrary to self sufficient where all family members need to be covered by CSI policy regardless of non-eea family members working/paying NI contribution. An EEA national partner can be self sufficient on the income/earning of any of its family member.
And yes if EEA national start working then CSI won't need.
