certificate of entitlement for entering UK

I have a strange situation. I applied for my infant son's naturalisation 4 months back which was processed in 2 weeks but the approval letter(certificate of reg as British Citizen) was misplaced in post and I got it after 4 months.
During this time my child had to go to India for urgent situation. Now I am told that I am not allowed to file his British passport in UK and instead need to do the same from India and wait for 16 weeks for passport to be issued.
I read there is another alternative of getting certificate of entitlement issued in India (on Indian passport) and use it for entering UK.
Does anybody have any information regarding this?
Both me and my wife have valid ILR but my son doesn't have ILR as we applied for naturalization directly because of his UK birth.

Yes I know the Indian passport should be surrendered immediately but I do not have the british passport for the baby yet. I want to get the CoE, return to UK and then apply for Britich passport. It takes 16 weeks to apply for passport from India which I cannot wait.
Do you know if CoE is applied on Indian passport and whether there is any problem faced during going out of India with that.

Yes. The endorsement sticker is placed within the foreign passport.

Please note that travel on Indian passport more than 3 months after acquiring a foreign citizenship incurs a fine. It's the date of acquiring the citizenship that counts not the foreign passport.
