Certificate of Naturalisation- Certificate Details

Post by VR » Sun Nov 03, 2013 12:31 pm

Friends,

Citizenship Invitation:

The home office Citizenship invitation contains a section called Certificate details. The format of this is wrong and a cause for delays for no fault of the OP.

Here they mention the Full name from which it is impossible to know whether the name is taken in the correct order, even though all parts of the name are there. Here is an illustration.

Recently an Invitation had Certificate details as Nalgonda Srinivas Krishna. The full name is Correct

Certificate of Naturalisation:

This comes with the name in the following format

*Krishna* Nalgonda Srinivas

The Person went ahead and applied for his passport.
After a week he received a letter from the HM Passport office saying they are unable to proceed further as the name is not taken correctly in the Naturalisation Certificate and asking him to write to Liverpool to try and get it amended. They also retained his application and Indian Passport leaving him without any travel documents...

The Invitation should mention the Certificate Details in the format
First Name
Middle Name
Surname.

In the above example the Krishna is the first name and his Surname is Srinivas and Nalgonda should be the Middle Name.

Somebody might want to take up this anamoly with the Home office and save this inefficient way of working.

Cheers

The name between the stars is the surname. He should have spotted the mistake in the first letter.

The First Letter

Post by VR » Sun Nov 03, 2013 5:57 pm

Dear Jambo,

The first letter he received was the Approval letter and invitation for the Ceremony. This contained all bits of his name and you could not make anything from it.

Then after the ceremony the certificate was handed out and it contained the First name inbetween the Asterix and the middle and surname which is the way they spell the name in India.

The point here is when the person has filled out a detailed Application for Naturalisation, specifying the name correctly in the Form AN 1.5 they should issue the certificate correctly.

The form AN 1.5 justs says Surname/Family name, this format should be modified and clear order should be given like Surname/MiddleName/FirstName or whatever.

In addition to this they also get copies of the Passport in support of the application.

Just unbelievable and unavoidable delays which can be fixed jiffy. Thanks.
cheers
