registering children

Post by brae01 » Mon Nov 04, 2013 7:55 am

Hi all,

I have attained my BC and now plan to apply for BC/register my children who are all living abroad at the moment. I have read through the MN1 guidelines and read some posts but i'm still not sure how to go about this.

first child is 16yrs born abroad
second child is 8yrs born in UK
third child is 10month born abroad.

Could anyone please advise whether any of them automatically has the right to BC or i have to first register all them.

Mothers are not british citizens

cheers

See also FAQs.

First and third child are automatically British, if you were granted citizenship before child's birth.

Else, children's registrations are subject to discretion.

Second child is automatically British, if you were granted ILR before child's birth.

Else, second child is entitled to register.

Are you married to first and second child's mother?

Unfortunately, if you were/are not married to the childrens' mothers, then there is no entitlement nor automatic right to British citizenship for the first and second child from your status.

Therefore, suggest that you read the discretion guidance very carefully.
