6 months valid passport requirement?

Post by jason32 » Mon Nov 04, 2013 10:37 pm

Hi guys,

How important is this 6 months passport requirement when applying from outside country for tier 2 general?

My wife just applied with a 5 months valid passport? she has been living in UK for 2 years and just had to go back to apply Tier 2. Initially the visa center said 6 months valid passport is required but then they accepted the application. My wife applied from Pakistan.

I am a bit concerned about this, could this be a problem?

Any thoughts?

Yes, I believe the passport is supposed to last longer than the visa you're applying for. You generally need at least 6 months or more on your passport. Perhaps they'll grant the visa and then she'll have to get a new passport 5 months down the line, then apply and pay more money to the UKBA to get the new ppt stamped?
