Where is the Spouse Visa on the UKBA site?

Post by Wanderboy » Wed Nov 06, 2013 5:06 am

Hello all,

My Russian wife and I are just starting the process of getting her over in the UK permanently and are unsure as to how to go forward. I am settled in the UK having moved back from Russia a couple years ago and we tick all the boxes for the Spouse visa requirements. We of course quickly learned that 'Spouse Visa' and 'Marriage Visa' are not the official names of what we require, however, in the drop down menu on the UKBA's initial application page there is no obvious option for the official version of a Spouse Visa.

The closest option is 'Settlement', which we understand to be Indefinite Leave to Remain, a category my wife is not yet eligible to apply for. Are we correct in thinking that this is the option we need to use, as Leave to Enter as the spouse of a settled individual may be seen as being the first step towards Settlement? Or have we got it completely wrong by missing something glaringly obvious?

Also, are we right in thinking she will be able to work on a spouse visa?

Many thanks in advance for any answers.

See also Applying from outside the UK. "Settlement" is the correct category. Spouse will be able to work.

Thank you Vinny. Although it seems the only logical option we appreciate the clarification.
