Baby born to UK dad and Filipino wife in Philippines, HELP!

Post by BritPinoy » Thu Nov 07, 2013 3:46 am

Hi folks, Im new here and hope you can help. i was married just over a year ago to a Filipino lady. i am in the UK, was born here and shes still in the philippines with our baby who was born in October.

I am planning to register my child in the UK (as well as Philippines) and understand that this means the child will have automatic dual citizenship and be issued with a British passport.

What I cant understand then is the financial requirement for them to enter the UK as on one hand the rules say it increases from £18,600 to £22,400 BUT them later on it states on page 31 of the rules:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... am-mig.pdf

"A British citizen child is not subject to immigration control and is not therefore subject to the financial requirement (income threshold). Where one parent is a British citizen and the other parent is a migrant and the child is a British citizen, the financial requirement (income threshold) will apply to the migrant parent, but not the child."

So am I right in saying with my child as a dual nationality the financial requirement will still be £18,600???

Any advice welcomed, thankyou.

Great news, thanks. Any thoughts on whether its best for her to apply from the philippines or for me to process the application here in the UK. Oh and with regards to medical treatment for a young child, will my daughter be covered by NHS (I work full time, so contribute) or will private medical be necessary for her.
