How important the letter from Landlord is ?

Post by ceobot » Thu Nov 07, 2013 3:25 pm

I wrote to my Property Agency asking for letter allowing me to run business from the home. Despite multiply requests they told me it is not possible and against the law to run the business from residential address. I now realize I will not get this letter from them anyway.

I am not sure what to do next with this issue, it seems some applicants didn't provide this letter and got the visa, and some were refused because didn't attach this letter to the application.

All my advertising/marketing/company/business documents, contract etc. have this address on it. It basically shows the HO I am running business from home address, and unfortunately don't have any confirmation I can do this.

Let's say I will get a contract from the other office landlord which will show my interest in renting office as soon as possible after my application is approved, would it help me ?

Another problems is that I probably have not more than 5 or 6 days and need to apply then.

Any help will be really appreciated.

@ ceobot, the nature of your business will determine if Home Office will raise an eyebrow about running your business at home.

UK regulation is that you need to take permission from local authority to run your business at home if that business will have a detrimental effect on your neighbour. But if running your business at home does not affect anyone visibly, then you don't need council permission and even in my own opinion you don't need landlord permission either.

Example of such businesses includes, website designer, software engineer, self-employed contractors that work at clients site.

I hope this help.
