Self Employed

Post by Lissa » Sat Nov 09, 2013 12:46 pm

Hi everyone

I am EU national i am going to apply for EEA3.
My question is that is the first 3 years I was employed
Then I was not having any job I start doing cleaning job
But I was not registried with self employed on that time recently
I get registered with HMRC And I have info them since when
I was doing self employed and I have paid the taxes and class 2 NI
Which I have received recently they have send it altogether in one bill

I am worried about that will home office will say anything about
That why I registered late with HMRC and paying all the tax and NI
Anyone can please advice or help me out with this.

By law you are require to inform HMRC within 3 months from the start date of your self employment but if you don't do this then HMRC may sent you a notice of fine etc.

There is no concerns of HO with this issue.

This is between you and HMRC.

But HO may ask you to explain why you registered your self so late???

I don't thing so that HO ask this but may be.
So you have to be a solid reason of this question if HO ask..

Other then that there will be no problem.

Late payment of tax along with fine (if any) should not affect but mainly you have to demonstrate that your self employment was economically active during the time you claiming to be self employed. For that purpose usually business accounts showing trading/invoices/accountant letter/profit loss statement will need.
