Financial requirements: Combining Cat B and Cat F

Post by FarmerInTheCity » Sun Nov 10, 2013 6:48 pm

Hello,

I am in the process of completing the application for fiance visa and have a question about the financial requirements i.e. meeting the £18,600 threshold.

My situation is that I have been working in current salaried employment for the last 3 months with same employer. In this employment I have a gross annual salary of £90,000. Before this, I had been a director of a limited company of the type specified in paragraph 9(a) of Appendix FM SE taking a mix of salary and dividends with gross income exceeding the above threshold in the last financial year.

My question is, can I rely on just Cat B or do I need to combine it with Cat F (more paperwork)?

For Cat B, I can meet the first part as my gross salary exceeds the threshold. For the second part of Cat B, income in last 12 months, my earnings in current employment of the last 3 months alone exceed the threshold. So, do I need to mention my Cat F income?

Many thanks for any help,

When you meet the requirement under cat B, then why even think about poking into another category. Just cat B will be enough.

Thank you for the reply.

So does this mean I only need to provide 3 months of bank statements and payslips that show these 3 salary payments, which total £22,500 gross?

Thanks

What I have gathered from the wording used for specified evidence under CAT B, they ask for last 12 months wage slips and bank statements.

It appears that even if you have earned more than £ 18600 in past three months, you still need to supply past 12 months proofs because Cat B asks for 12 months proofs. At least that is the letter of the law (rules).

Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, I can see how it can be read like that. However, on the application form it only requests evidence of 'salaried' employment in last 12 months under category b. So if you have only had salaried employment for last 3 months because you were company director before or even unemployed travelling, what can you do? You meet both parts of cat b but happen to have met threshold in last 3 month alone, do they really need to know anymore ?

Anyone able to confirm with experience or otherwise?

Think you

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone can confirm the above?

If you have only worked at a job for 5 months and have large gross annual salary of above threshold and in the those 5 months have actually received gross earnings above the threshold from this job will category b be satisfied? And, in the 12 months prior to application you were student/unemployed for 7 months before getting current job of 5 months. SO you are only relying on 5 months worth of payslips/bank statements and an employment contract.

Thanks

You can apply for category B if you meet the financial requirement at the current level AND in the last 12 months you earnt over the threshold. However, you might confuse the ECO slightly through the use of a single employer in that time.

Or you can wait one month and make your life easier by applying under category A.

Yes, I see your point about waiting 1 month.

But it is there in black and white, I don't see why someone in same position but maybe less time at job should wait longer just to avoid 'confusing' ECO when it is actually achievable with a single employer via category b route.

I imagine there are plenty of people on higher salaries that can and have sponsor within 1 month of working!
