Pre-emptive query on US to UK immigration

Post by ronniew » Sun Nov 10, 2013 11:12 pm

Hello,

My partner and I have been together 3 months, we met on-line. She is from New Jersey in the US, and I'm from Scotland, UK. She is a teacher of Spammy Spammer therapy for a US company, and runs her own Spammy Spammer therapy business part time too. I'm a qualified IT manager about to start my own self-help business. I'm currently employed in the Charity sector.

I'll be flying over to spend a little time with her this week, and she'll be doing the same flying over here perhaps just after Christmas. We plan to be together long-term with marriage and building family here in Scotland.

What advice can you give us at this stage to help us make the immigration process work out as smoothly as is possible?

Thanks

and be really careful what you say to US immigration when you go there (and likewise what she says when she comes here for the initial trip).

Make very clear you have ties to your home country and will return, not try to stay longer than you are allowed.
