Liverpool office lost marriage certificate!

Post by Mymorg » Tue Nov 12, 2013 11:34 am

So, I called the office since I was issued a COA without right to work (Was applying for eea2 under Surinder Singh, have eea1 from my husband living and working in Germany, I was living with him... Just for background on our case). Turns out the liverpool office either overlooked or just plain lost our marriage certificate! I'm sincerely worried because, as they only make you give original documents, we only have an untranslated copy left (we got married in Korea! Had the whole thing notarised and translated there!). Has this happened to anyone else? Has anyone gotten a foreign marriage certificate successfully translated in the uk? There is no way I can go back to Korea to get a copy! Any advice? This is a talk to up of theirs, what can be done? Argh!

They said they will check again... Hopefully they find it is time! I'll keep you updated, if anyone cares... Just want to share my story.

Hi I care :)

I got my Portuguese marriage certificate translated in the Uk by an authorised translator.

So do not see why not. The translator gave us two certified copies.

Aw, thanks so much :D we'll see if they find it. It's just so frustrating since, if I had forgotten to send it, I would have found it in my house and sent it back to them!

We had translated our marriage document from the Turkish consulate in London.

I am planning to send only this with EEA1 and EEA2 applications and not the original. I hope it wont be a problem.

Can we actually send copy of our marriage document certified by the consulate or do they need the original?

I am copying from the application form:
'Copies of other types of document of any kind are
not acceptable unless there are valid reasons for
not being able to provide the original document. In
such circumstances, we may accept a copy certified by the body or authority which issue the original (for example, a copy of a savings book certified by the building society or bank) or by a notary'

I dont want to spend time and risk a rejection for this but I would prefer not to send our marriage certificate.

Thanks

For the eea1 they made copies... But eea2 requested all original documents, which really sucks because they lost ours. Good luck to you.
