Quick Questions For Set (M) Ilr Application

Post by neil7908 » Thu Nov 14, 2013 9:39 pm

Hi There,

My partner and I found this site incredibly helpful when we made an application around 2 years ago for her to come to the UK as my unmarried partner.

We are now gathering information together to make an application with SET (M) for Indefinite Leave to Remain (the Life in the UK Test has just been passed and we are getting close to 28 days before our 2 year anniversary of arriving in the UK so hoping to get a PEO appointment booked shortly).

I think having been through a similar experience already we feel better prepared but there are a couple of questions I’d like to ask if anyone can help?

1) The passport which contains my partner’s current visa expired a few months ago so she has received a new one from her embassy. She obviously still has the old passport with her visa in it – can we simply supply both passports at the PEO appointment or do we need to apply for her visa to be added to/moved into her new passport? The visa itself is still valid for another 3+ months.

2) I am currently on a fixed term contract at work which is due to run until March next year. I can provide the contract from my work which has my annual salary and dates of employment and also printed payslips showing my monthly earnings. Should I be concerned about the fact that I am not permanently employed? My partner does have a permanent job and we have managed to save around £25k between us although we both earn below average UK salaries. I hope this is sufficient to show we can support ourselves (we have no dependants and have been renting privately for over a year after spending the first 10 months or so living with my parents). Also, do I need to supply a copy of my recent P60?

3) Which leads me on to my next question - should I ask my parents to supply a letter confirming we stayed with them after our arrival? We do have mail going to this address but nothing in our joint name so if a letter would prove useful we will do that.
.
4) Some of the cohabitation evidence we have are documents that have been printed out – our TV license, gas and electricity bills are all ‘E accounts’ which do have our address but have not actually been posted. Are they still acceptable as evidence of us living together?

Any advice or help, particularly with question 1 would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Just take both passports. Your savings alone would suffice adequate maintenance, just include 3 months wage slips and corresponding bank statements. Try and submit 'hard copy' letters for your cohabitation proof, if not, E-statements should suffice. A letter each or one joint for every 4 months over the last 2 years from a total of at least 3 different sources. No letter needed unless still living with parents. B1 English requirement in addition to LIUK unless exempt.

Great, thanks so much for your help.

We are now preparing our documents with a view to making a PEO appointment in the next week or two if available.

We are applying about 25 days prior to the 2 year anniversary of our arrival in the UK. We came over mid-December 2011 and have documents well spaced out but only 1 thing to cover us for October 2013 and nothing this month - will that be a problem?

I might be overthinking this I just want to make sure we are well covered for everything.

Thanks again.

I can't see it being an issue if the letter is in joint names.
