Schengen visa while on Code 1 A

Hi,
My unmarried partner and I are in the UK nearly 1 year now, She came here on a EEA family permit. Now she has a Code 1 A stamp issued by UKBA Calais. Is it possible to apply for a Schengen Visa with Code 1 A stamp?

Alternatively, has anyone successfully applied for a Schengen visa with an EEA family permit?
