citizenship entitlemenet

Post by badr-amiche » Sun Nov 17, 2013 9:51 pm

hi everybody
my topic is about applying for citizenship and here is my story...
I am no-eu married to eu citizen and living in Ireland for 4 years, working part time and my wife is full time, holding stamp 4 eufam since I came to Ireland, got one year first time then another year then 5 years which will expired nov 2016, as far as I know I can apply for citizenship only after 5 years residency in Ireland. just wondering if I can start my application 6 months before or from now or what to do.
another question please is about job, found a job in north of Ireland and because I live in the border it will suit me but wondering will that effect my status in the republic or what?
guys, any help is really appreciated

If you are talking about Northern Ireland (re: job), this will not work for you. Remember that holding a visa for the Republic of Ireland doesn't entitle you to work in Northern Ireland (UK). You should look for a UK visa to be able to work in the UK.

Living near the border won't affect your status at all...I'd be thinking about finding a job in the ROI, not crossing the border illegally (even if you don't need a visa for entry to the UK, you would probably not be entitled to work!)

It says that you have to be residence in Ireland and this is your case so you shouldn't have any problem , however you may be slightly discriminated against since you are not contributing the Irish economy but the UKs.

If you want my advice, try avoiding the trouble of working in the UK atleast after you apply for nationalisation, then you can apply to work in the UK (NI).

Secondly, yes you can start now to organise the documents needed to apply for a certificate of nationalisation, but you must know that 6 months is quite far away and recent documents will be needed for this application with a statutory declaration from the solicitor.
