Surinder Singh route and non-EEA children

Hello everybody. I've been searching for this info everywhere but haven't found it so far.. Maybe somebody here can help me.
Me *Ukrainian citizen* and my husband *British citizen* are going to do SS route in Spain. I know that non-EEA spouses of UK citizens have to live in a member state together for the whole period, but what about their children? The question is does my 10 years old son have to accompany us for the whole 90 day period to qualify for entry into the UK,or can he join us near the end of this time and then travel to UK after our SS in the EU?
