Tier 4 Dependents Maintenance Requirements

Post by Mandela 2 » Fri Dec 06, 2013 11:23 am

Hi there,

I'm currently studying as a Tier 4 student at Royal Holloway, University of London and I have to bring my family- wife and 2 kids. I am aware of the required maintenance funds for each dependent which is obviously a lot of money- around £12 000 for my 3 dependents. One of my professors has expressed her willingness to help me with the money just for the purposes of showing UKBA and she is prepared to deposit it into my account and allow it to sit in there for more than the required 28 days. Would this option work out? Or will home office require any explanation as to where the money came from, maybe in the form of my profesor's consent?

Another option I have is to ask my ex-employer- a South African Non Governmental Organisation- that I worked for for 3 years to 'sponsor' me. I have indicated this to my ex-boss and they said they are willing to write me the required letters confirming that I'm still their employee on study leave for 3 years and stating that they would offer financial support for my family, and attach their bank statements. Does this option work, and which of the above 2 options works better for me.

I received a scholarship which pays for my fees and a maintenance stipend which does not cover my family, so I am only asking for my family. I am currently on a 3 year Tier 4 visa which I was issued in September 2013, 3 months ago.

Your advice and information will be greatly valued.

Cheers,

Neither of those options.

Please @Lucapooka or any one with experience and better informed, would you mind elaborating a bit on why you advise that the two options will not work? I'm asking for guidance so that I know what to do and what not to do.

I was only thinking in terms of the Tier 4 policy guidance which provides that one either has to have the specified maintenance amount of £4050 per dependent x 3 which amounts in total to £12150 or demonstrate sufficient sponsorship, which my former employer is willing to do.
