Do I Need A UK Visa
You asked if a national of San Marino needs a visa to come to the UK as a work permit holder for longer than six months.
Yes, you need a visa.
If you are applying for a visit visa, or are a national of, or are normally and legally living in San Marino, please make your application to Rome.
Currently, applications are accepted only by post or agency. Personal callers will be seen only by appointment.
Please read Guidance - Work Permits for more information. Your sponsor, if you have one, may want to read Guidance - Sponsors.
In most cases, eligible dependants will also need visas. Any dependants under 16 years old, included on your passport, can be included on the same form, but those older will need to complete separate forms.
Children as visitors
Children under the age of 18 years need to declare whether they are travelling alone or with an accompanying adult. If with an accompanying adult this person must be named and their name will be shown on the child's visa. The visa will not be valid if the child attempts to travel alone, or with a different adult.
In all cases the visa officer must be satisfied that satisfactory arrangements have been made for the child's care in the UK.
Scenerio II
You asked if a national of San Marino needs a visa to come to the UK as a visitor.
No, you do not need a visa.
On arrival in the UK you must satisfy an immigration officer that you qualify for entry to the United Kingdom as a visitor under the Immigration Rules.
Students
Please note that if you are allowed to enter the UK as a student for up to six months, you will not be allowed to extend your stay unless you arrived with a student or prospective student visa, or are studying on a course at degree level or higher. The Home Office will charge you a fee for applying to extend your stay.
If you entered the UK as a visitor, and you are still in the UK as a visitor, then you will not be allowed to switch to student status. This is due to the Immigration Rules Change that came into effect on 3 April 2006.
Please read Guidance - Visitors for further information. Your sponsor, if you have one, may want to read Guidance - Sponsors.
N.B. Even though you do not need a visa, if you have previously been refused a visa for, or entry to, the UK you may want to apply for one to find out if you qualify for entry before you travel. Please contact Rome for further information.
