Switch from Tier 5 (YMs) to Tier 4

Post by looma18 » Mon Jan 27, 2014 4:27 pm

Hi guys.

I'm currently on a Tier 5 YMS visa which ends in September. I'm looking to switch into Tier 4 for this upcoming September and applying to graduate programs as we speak.

On the UKBA guidance it says that work permit holders are allowed to switch into Tier 4 whilst they're still in the UK. However, it doesn't explicity state Tier 5...Can anyone please provide guidance on this?

Thanks! :D

A 'work permit holder' is a specific category of migrant who have been issued leave on the basis of a work permit- an old visa category that is now closed. Work permit holder is not a generic term for a migrant with a work based visa such as tier 5. Tier 5 is not mentioned in the categories of persons who can switch in country because it is not possible to switch. You will need to make your application from your home country.

Thanks for the clarification, that's what I figured that I'd have to return to my home country anyways.
