visa4UK Partner applicaton help!!

Post by snitchythedog » Tue Feb 11, 2014 9:37 pm

Help please!!!!

I am attempting to apply for a partner visa from the US to join my wife and daughter in the UK. So far I have worked every day on the application for a week but am unable to submit it. I am in a catch 22 situation. I am required to use the website https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk to complete the online application. This must be done first to get a biometric appointment. The Paperwork from the biometric appointment must be added in the printed application to send into the UK consulate in New York. Unfortunately the Visa4UK website is a BETA version of the site and I am experiencing several problems. The first one is the online form does not address the requirements for the visa. It references my current employment and pay in here in the states, but does not reference my wife’s employment in the UK, which is the primary application requirement. When I am entering my wife as a sponsor, it does not give me the option to list her as a spouse, wife or civil partner. It has every other conceivable option including work associate. I had to select other.

I have completed the paper form VAF-4A and Appendices 2. Unfortunately after speaking to World Bridge services and the visa expeditors A Briggs it appears that the paper copy is unusable since the online application process is a requirement. At this point I am willing to fly to New York and apply in person. This does not seam to be an option available to me either. My wife and I have been waiting fourteen months to meet the visa requirements, and now that we do we would like to submit the application. Are there any alternate ways that I can get this application in since the online application is not functioning? I have attempted to contact the visa4uk technical support email, but have only received one response that the issue was passed along to colleagues.

Does anyone know how to do this on the new system?

I am looking at this too, the online system is really bad at the moment. From what I could see, I think you would complete the online form (with the limited information on sponsor) but you will then need to fill in appendix 2 and also sponsor undertaking form and submit it together with all your supporting documents. Not sure at what stage you would submit these documents, I presume at the time of attending the appointment?

I will wait for someone else to comment, I think we should think of putting together a FAQ or Sticky forum on the new visa4uk application procedure

just started a fresh application and noticed the red box which appears when you select the relevant type of application, under wife/husband application the following text appears:

After you have completed the online form, you must complete the relevant appendix, which can be found at: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... ther-visas. Sponsorship Undertaking Form (SU07). If you are applying for settlement as the parent, grandparent or other dependant relative of someone in the UK, your sponsor needs to complete and sign the Sponsorship Undertaking Form (SU07), which can be found at: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... p-form.pdf. By signing this form, your sponsor confirms that they will be responsible for your maintenance and accommodation in the UK. You should include this completed form when you make your settlement application

I have to agree it is a bit confusing! We have just completed our application process. We also wondered why information on the applicant's employment is included on the online form. You did right to pick 'other relative" as there is no option for wife/husband or spouse. You then qualify it in the area for extra information. Once completed you can pay, print out the form and book your biometric appointment and pay for that too. You then fill out Appendix 2 which is where all the financial, accommodation, personal details information is entered. Having had your biometric appointment, you post all your supporting documents, your printed application form and Appendix 2 to the correct UKBA processing location. In the US, I understand you post them to Sheffield, UK. PLEASE CHECK THAT OUT if you are applying from the US. The SU07 is for dependent relatives as I understand it, so not necessary for spousal or fiancé visas.

dear friends
before you do anything on line you have to prepare ALL your documents and get your file absolutely ready and well organised

the UK sponsor has to send all the documents to the APPLICANT ( SIGNED appendix and ORIGINAL documents etc )

then go online,
Yes I agree there is confusion because the web site refers you as Settlement applicant
and there is no option for spouse so we have to pick OTHER
and some questions asks about the sponsor in a confusing way

then when the online form is completed it generates a print out and an APPOINTMENT
IT IS AT that appointment you take the complete beast and give it to them as submitted..

you cant just turn up at the visa centre..
Good luck
