spouse visa

Post by j.c » Wed Feb 12, 2014 6:31 pm

Hi. I am Chilean (in the UK finishing my PhD with a T4 visa) my boyfriend is a Britsh citizen. We are planning to get married. But we are not sure about the income requirement:(we want to apply for the spouse visa at the end of July 2014)
a) My boyfriend just finished his Phd, he will have a salary of 1300 per month (15600 per year) for Feb and March + in Apr, May, Jun, Jul he will have an income of 2,400 (28800 per year) (same employer the 6 months), after that he will change his employer. Is that okay?. He can use 15,600 for the income requirement (the lowest), no? Is there any problem, that his job tittle will change between the first 2 months from Casual staff to post-doc possition?
b) I work part-time, as a casual worker at the university (teaching), my salary is going to be throughout 6 months with the same employer for a total of 1600 pounds or more ( I work more sometimes and it is paid hourly). Therefore I can use 1600*12/2=3200 for the income requierement. Is it okay to have a casual worker contract?
c) we have also 17000 in savings, therefore: (17000-16000)/2.5=400

Total: 15,600+3200+400=19200
thank you very much

If using variable income, Cat B would be applicable. If you've earned the required amount in the last 12 months then that'll be ok.
