Can I do fingerprint in other cities? Thanks in advance

I live in Georgia and my I-485 case is in Georgia. I am having business trip in Virginia for two weeks. I went to INFOPASS in Virginia this morning and have been told that my fingerprint expired and they made an appointment for me to do the fingerprint tomorrow in Virginia. I am wondering if I really can do this as my friend told me that I need to do FP in the place I applied for GC. If I do FP here, will it mess up my case? Please help!!!
