Italian Citizenship Application in UK

Hi all,

does anyone know of a situation where an individual has applied for Italian Citizenship through the consulate where they reside, but then have to leave that country of residence due to their visa expiring?

My situation is that I've applied in London, my UK Visa is about to expire yet what happens to my application when I legally stop being a resident of the UK?

Any information would be much appreciated.
