Need advice about my previous WTC

Post by Karra » Sun Mar 09, 2014 5:01 pm

I would really appreciate if the respectful seniors could give me some advice, please.

A brief background: Me and my spouse were married seven years ago and I had Limited Leave to remain with no Recourse to public funds.I returned to my home country before my visa expired for my family circumstances. I am now applying again from my country for a new spouse visa and I have a concern.

When I was in the UK on LLT I received WTC and honestly can't even absolutely recall how, since only now and reading the boards I realized WTC is a benefit and remembered claiming one. But I must have applied and HMRC must have accepted it , if I was getting it. Anyway, my question is- Will that WTC affect negatively on my current application.? I have lost sleep over this and wish I had more knowledge then, not to have claimed it!

Thanks in advance for your help.

I gather you claimed tax credits with your Settled/British partner, thus, that was fine.

Amber, thank you so much for your reply.
I received it myself not jointly with my husband?

You should check whether you did. Even if his name isn't on correspondence.
