Police and FLR IED ?

hello I have sent my passport to cannock on the 26th of July to Cannock for ILR IED application, (work permit extension),, I have still not received my passport back, but today I received a letter from the Metropolitan Police (Overseas visitors Records office) saying that I should go there with my passport and the registration certeficate and my workpermit in order to update my record.... I am a bit confused... is this related any way with my FLR IED application? anyone has experienced similar thing? and why i have to go all the way to SE1 London ? i live in London region... cant i go to local police instead? ( pls not that my passport still in Cannock anyway)

If you have already got a police certificate you can simply post it (at least use recorded delivery) to the police (OVR office at SE1) along with a copy of your passport and copy of new LTR. You can wait until you receive your new LTR.
