Tier-2 ICT ( Long term) early extension

Hi,
My mate is on Tier2-ICT ( long term) which is expiring in Aug-14. He is looking to apply for extension now as he needs to travel to India for 2-3 months for personal reasons.

Just wanted to check if he can apply for extension now(4 months in advance) if we get all necessary documentation from his employer.

Has anyone on this forum done Tier2-ICT ( long term) extension so early. Please share your experiences ?

Also what would be his new visa expiry date.

he can apply for an extension any time with a new CoS.

If he obtained his initial T2 ICT entry clearance after 5 April 2011, and earns less than £153,500 p.a., there is a 5 year limit on his total stay under T2 ICT LTS. Otherwise the period of his new leave will be 5 years or the period of engagement, whichever the shorter.
