Urgent - Tier 2 dependent - Maintenance of funds -A rated sp

Hi friends,

I have received CoS from my employer dated 20th December 2013 and Tier 2 G visa dated 15th January 2014. I got married on 2nd May 2014 in India and will return to UK today.

My spouse is applying for a dependent visa online from India. In the maintenance of funds section, should we select 'A rated sponsor'. I doubt this because the CoS and the letter is almost 6 months old now. What document will we have to provide to support this?

I am finding the online application procedure via https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ very confusing. Am I applying at right place in India? Please help - I am leaving for UK today and my spouse will not be able to this alone..

Most important is the issue of maintenance of funds. Is the CoS certificate and covering letter for maintenance of funds from my A rated sponsor, issued 6 months ago still valid? If not, do I need to provide my bank statements? (I have maintained £1500 in my Barclays current account for a safer side).

What happens next when we click submit after filling up the online form? What about the priority service appointment??

Should my spouse select the A-rated sponsor as evidence of funds, or shall I send my 90 days bank statement to India as the supporting document? Do I need any fresh document from my employer? Please help.

either get a letter from your sponsor confirming maintenance for your wife or provide bank statements. See para 56:

Thanks Manci. I will select A-rated sponsor in the online application. However, I will attach 90 days banks statement as an additional evidence.

you should only select A rated sponsor in the application if you have a letter from your sponsor confirming maintenance for your wife. This letter will have to be submitted by your wife with her other documents.

The letter from my employer says that they will support my dependants and it is ticked on CoS. The only problem is that the letter is very old (20th December 2013) - but from what I understand from you - this is not going to be a problem.

While applying online, while choosing visa type, I first selected
Join Family
and then
Work permit holder
Dependant of work permit holder


Can you kindly confirm that I am applying for the right Tier 2 General dependant visa and NOT VISITOR Visa. The reason of doubt is because in the 'Sign Declaration' window while submitting the online application, it says the following in one of the stanzas:
"
I am aware that I may be billed for any NHS medical treatment undertaken in the UK and that I do not have recourse to public funds during my stay in the UK.
I understand that if I fail to pay NHS debts incurred by me this could adversely affect future entry clearance applications I make.
"

I am quite worried about this. Its important that my dependant gets free service from NHS.

you are not a work permit holder, using the online process try:
Type of visa: Work
Purpose of Application: Tier 2 General
Type of Application: Tier 2 General Partner

the letter from your employer about maintenance was issued before you got married. You need to get a new letter specifically for your wife or submit the required bank statements

Can a new letter from HR, with the same content as before, but with today's date suffice my need? Also, the HR will send a scanned copy of the letter, which my spouse will colour-print in India. Will this document be accepted? Or do I need to send her the original letter? It is going to be time consuming to get the bank statements and send them to India - so relying on letter. This is not urgent anymore - so can wait and send statements if that is more sure thing to do..? I prefer CoS though..
