Tier 2 ICT long term to Tier 2 Gen

Hello All,

Is it possible to switch from Tier 2 ICT to tier 2 gen?is there any coolingoff period within UK?

Individuals can switch into Tier 2 (General) from Tier 2 (ICT) if they entered the UK before 6 April 2011, providing they have not made an application for entry clearance (i.e from abroad) since then and providing they are changing sponsors.

Individuals who entered the UK under Tier 2 (ICT) on or after 6 April 2011, or those who entered before then but have since made an application for entry clearance from abroad, will have to leave the UK for the 12 month ‘cooling off’ period before they can return under Tier 2 (General). The only exception to this rule is if the individual has been offered a new role and will be paid a salary at the higher rate

Hi Raj,

I've entered UK on Tier2 ICT short term through A ompany from Ot-12 to Dec-13.

Now i entered UK on Tier2 ICT Long Term through B Company on March-2014.

Could you guide me the possible options to switch to Tier 2 Gen within UK?

Sorry but you won't be able to switch to T2G within the UK. You will have to go to your home country (or outside UK) and serve a 12 month cooling off period before applying for T2G.

You can either switch to T4 (Student visa) within the UK or you can switch to a spouse dependent visa within the UK.

My wife having dependant visa of me.Can her visa converted to Tier 2 gen and me as her dependant.is this possible?

Yes, your wife can change from dependent to Tier 2 General visa primary;
Provided ; her company should be licensed to sponsor; she will have to obtain entry clearance from home country.
Once she successfully gets through the Visa and returns back to UK, you can change to be her partner visa within UK
