Urgent help required on CHILDCARE TAX

Post by Son_of_Soil » Thu Jun 05, 2014 2:33 pm

Hi
Thsi is a query based on last tax year which is just finished( 2013-2014).
My wife didnt work for the whole tax year and my income for the tax year is approx 22K.So our total joint income for tax year 2013-2014 was 22K. My wife was a full time mom all this time and from this month she started working and we have sent our child to childcare which is approx £850/month.

I filled in the claim form after i checked my elgibility online using the tax calculator and the reply i got from the HMRC was that i dnt qualify for anything,. .When i use the online calculator enter details for last tax year, there is HUGE differance between teh figueres. Upon checking the document they sent to back this decision i found that they used my income for last year in 2012-2013.however my claim was for 2013-2014 not 2012-2013.

I was advised to send my wife's employement details in writting along with my proof of earning and the estimate earning for this year(2014-2015).As my wife started to work , she will be earning approx 22K and i m expecting to earn same as last year .I called HMRC today and tehy said they cnt update the system for last year's income but they told i am entitled to appr £500 for THIS TAX YEAR. How is that possible? the current tax year is not finished yet? also, will our expected income to earn in this year will have ANY effect on the last tax year (2013-2014).

Am i missing something very important ? i am just claiming for tax year 2013-2014.
*ALSO WILL CLAIMING THESE BENEFIT WILL HAVE ANY EFFECT ON MY NATURALISATION APPLICATION AS I AM ON ILR*
Please advise

Go to the CAB and get a benefit check.

Hi
I wen to CAb last week and after spending 2 hours with the advisor , i came out with nothing helpfull. I had to made her understand that my claim is only fpr 2013-2014, and tax people got the wrong income for wrong tax year.at the end they advise me to call tax credit helpline which i had been doing anyways

yesterday i had a tax renewal pack asking me to report any change in circumstances i called and gave my income which was around 22K and my wife's income was 0 along with childcare cost (187 appox) a week. Advisor told me that he has updated the record but when i asked him how much i am entitled to he wnt tell me . he said wait for 8 weeks and dnt call us. i had a benefit from my employer for £62 in the tax year 2013-2014. will that make a huge differant if i am entitles to any tax credit?

please advise how can i find out my actual entitlement?
regards
