Hi i have been reading on the forums and finally found out that my sponsor can receive the housing benefits as being British, but i have to pay my rent.
My question is after 2 and half years when I apply for spouse visa extension, can my husband sponsor me at the same time as taking housing benefits? would this effect my spouse visa extension application in any way?

So far as you and/or your sponsor meet the Financial Requirement, it should not be an issue. Remember, Housing Benefit needs to be in joint names but only paying a single person applicable amount.
